The Amador-Calaveras Consensus Group is a community-based organization that works to create fire-safe communities, healthy forests and watersheds, and sustainable local economies.
I attended my first ACCG meeting yesterday and observed the very diverse groups represented there tackle the wording of the ACCG Principles and Polices to Guide Operations. I was pleasantly surprised at the cooperation, vitality, and just “common sense” approach demonstrated by these very diverse and separate organizations as they tackled a subject that has been known to cause even a single group of like minded individuals to become argumentative, uncooperative and eventually, ineffective and sterile as an organization. I not only plan on being a regular at these meetings but I plan to recommend support and participation in ACCG to the members of our community based, grass roots organization as a must for our little corner of the County.
