CFLRA Funding Support Letter

As discussed at the March meeting of the ACCG, our Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program Cornerstone Project funding application has made its way on to Washington and the next steps in the national review process. However, if Congress doesn’t fund the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Act, our project will not move forward this year even if the Forest Service selects it for funding.

Therefore, the ACCG decided on March 16 to send letters to our senators and Congressman asking them to support funding for the Community Forest Landscape Restoration Act. The draft is attached for your review.

We are not sending this letter as one from the full ACCG since our federal agency partners cannot lobby elected officials, so we need to list supporters on a sign-on sheet. If you would like to sign on, please let me know no later than April 22, 2011. I need the name and title for the person representing you, as well as your logo if you have one.

On the recommendation of ACCG member John Heissenbuttel, we will also send a separate letter to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies. It will be based on this letter, but request support for CFLRA funding for this year and following years.
