View 88 Fuels Reduction and Forest Health Project

The Eldorado National Forest Supervisor signed a Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact on June 6, 2011, for the View 88 Fuel Reduction and Forest Health project.  This project on the Amador Ranger District would conduct vegetation management activities and other management actions to improve scenic resources, reduce surface and ladder fuels, improve forest health, provide for public safety, and restore and enhance oak, aspen, and meadows on about 2,106 acres in the vicinity of State Highway 88. Activities include commercial and pre-commercial thinning of conifer stands, pre-commercial thinning of plantations, piling of ground and activity fuels, prescribed understory burning, and hazard tree removal for roads used by the project.

This project is one of those included in our CFLRA proposal.  As noted in the attached letter (below), you can ask question of the project leader Sue Rodman at (530) 621-5298
