Northern California Society of American Foresters Announces Summer Meetings
Posted on behalf of ACCG Member John Heissenbuttel:
This is a good time to register for the Aug. 5-6 Summer field meeting (see attached flyer) in Amador County. The lodging special group rates expire very soon and the registration rates go up shortly after. This is going to be a special meeting, with plenty of VIPs and a couple of ‘way cool’ meals. Biomass is the next big thing (in my humble opinion) in CA forestry, so don’t miss this meeting if you want to be in the know. The link to the on-line registration is http://norcalsaf2011summermeeting.eventbrite.com/ . There’s a clip and mail page on the flyer if you prefer that method. We’re looking for field trip drivers and some volunteers to arrive a bit early on Friday to help set up tables for the dinner at Avio Vineyards. Let me know if you can help on either request.
Richard Harris has put together another couple of outstanding workshop opportunities. In August, there is a 4-week webinar on Wildlife and Sensitive Plant Considerations in Forest Fuels Management (flyer attached). A different topic will be presented each Thursday from 2-4 pm. The webinar is aimed at resource professionals, forest landowners, agency folks, and interested members of the public. All you need is a phone and a computer connection to participate.
For those fortunate to live in or near Madera County, there will be a 1-day workshop on Living Among the Oaks: Balancing Wildlife Needs, Forest Health, and Fire Hazard Reduction, on July 15 in North Fork (agenda attached).
The workshops are sponsored (in part) by a grant from the Forest Service State and Private Forestry to NorCal SAF. Please distribute all 3 announcements to anybody you think may be interested.
Thanks, Jane
